Bible & Bourbon with Pastor Ben
Some people think the Bible & Bourbon don't go together, but we disagree! Pastor Ben is a 9th-generation Kentuckian, born and raised in the heartland of bourbon. Over the generations, there are two things his family has passed down: a love of the Bible and a love of Bourbon. Each week, Ben invites you to grab a glass of your favorite libation and join him on a journey through scripture. Spend time learning not only about the words of scripture but also the historical and political context of each book of the Bible. No fire or brimstone, just the love of God and the spirits God helps us make!

In the Gospel story of Jesus’ birth, the magi bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, with myrrh foreshadowing suffering and death. At the cross, Jesus is again offered wine mixed with myrrh, a numbing drink meant to dull pain, and he refuses it, choosing to face suffering with full awareness and faithfulness. Together, these moments point to a Messiah who will not let death or pain have the final word, but instead embraces the cross to transform suffering into life.
